Overview

In vanilla, armour only reduces damage: every bullet still wounds and causes bleeding. With this mod a helmet and vest take the bullet themselves while they last. The body gets only blunt trauma — no wound, no blood. Every hit eats durability, and once a bullet is stronger than what is left of the armour, the armour breaks and the remainder goes through.

The second part is fractures. Limb health is raised so a broken bone grows back to the healing threshold and the splint can come off. Bones break exactly as in vanilla: limb damage is rescaled by the same factor.

Server-side only: nothing for players to download. STD AI bots get the same armour shield.

Models in the preview: 'Plate Carrier' by julianajj, 'Team Wendy Exfil Helmet' by natesana (Sketchfab, CC BY 4.0).

Features

  • A head shot hits the helmet, a torso shot hits the vest; while the armour holds, the body only takes shock
  • Blunt trauma: 20% of bullet damage to the torso, 30% to the head
  • Every bullet eats durability; penetration breaks the armour and passes the remainder to the body
  • Broken armour does nothing: the bullet goes through in full, as in vanilla
  • Any armour with serious bullet protection counts as a shield, including armour from other mods
  • Fractures heal: arms at 100, legs and feet at 125, about 7 minutes from zero to the threshold
  • Blood, shock, head and overall health stay vanilla
  • Settings in ArmorShield.json: armour threshold, wear, shock strength, class include and exclude lists, hit log

Requirements

  • DayZ 1.30
  • No Community Framework or Expansion needed
  • Server only: players need neither the mod nor a key

Installation

  1. 1
Put @STD_Damage_Server into the server folder
  2. 2
Add -serverMod=@STD_Damage_Server to the launch line; it does not go into -mod=
  3. 3
On first start profiles/STD_Damage_Server/ArmorShield.json is created with the settings
  4. 4
Check: the RPT shows a [STD_Damage_Server] line with the current settings. Load order with STD AI does not matter
